Information about Nakuru
Nakuru Town is a historical place that is sandwiched between Menengai Crater to the North, Lake Nakuru to the South, Prehistoric Hyrax hill to the East and Mau Ridges to the West. It is the provincial headquarters of the vast Rift Valley Province, otherwise known as granary of Kenya. It is this historical town that represents the face of Kenya, with its entire cultural heritage, that is also home to the world famous Flamingoes, besides being the only town in the world with a crater and a lake only about 10 km apart. It is a cosmopolitan town in which the main language is Kiswahili, the national language of Kenya that makes it possible for the diverse ethnic groupings to communicate with ease. Due to its location at the heart of Kenya, Nakuru has witnessed population explosion attributed to the rural urban migration, and is facing major challenges related to urbanisation.
