The Economic Commission for Africa has published a review of EIA practice in a number of African countries. Entitled Review of the Application of Environmental Assessment in Selected African Countries the study was presented and discussed at a workshop that the ECA convened from 12 to 13 April to deliberate on how to improve environmental impact assessment in Africa Assessing the environmental impact in Africa, a challenge for development. The meeting was organised in collaboration with Capacity Development and Linkages for Environmental Assessment in Africa (CLEAA).
According to the ECA Update for March – April 2007, the workshop provided an opportunity for African experts to develop an agenda for action based on the recommendations of the study.
